Ayers Saint Gross Architect Adam Gross to Retire 

Architect Adam Gross will retire this fall after a 40-year career at Ayers Saint Gross (AURP member), where he helped the Baltimore firm grow from eight employees to over 190. His work has earned him numerous accolades and board positions at Goucher College and the New England Commission of Higher Education. Read more.

Coffee Shop that Employs People with Disabilities Opens at NC State's Centennial Campus

321 Coffee, a Raleigh-based coffee shop employing individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, has opened a new location on NC State's Centennial Campus. The café, co-founded by alumni Lindsay Wrege and Michael Evans, marks a "homecoming" as the business began with campus pop-ups. Read more.

U.S. EDA Visits University of Illinois iFAB Tech Hub

Laura Appenzeller, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Innovation with the University of Illinois (home of the Research Park at the University of Illinois) posted on LinkedIn this week that she welcomed the U.S. EDA to the university's iFAB Tech Hub. Laura also reports U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski visited the University's Integrated Bioprocessing Research Laboratory. Read more. 

OSU's Innovation Foundation and Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fuel Entrepreneurship

Many innovators at Oklahoma State (OSU) utilize The Innovation Foundation at OSU, which translates campus research into marketable products and services. William Colton, CEO of Paldara Pharmaceuticals, and inventor of a hydrogel coating that prevents bacterial infection, worked with OSU’s Riata Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to bring his idea to the market. University of Utah Reports Research Funding Reaches $691M in FY 2024

The University of Utah (home to the University of Utah Research Park which hosted AURP's 2021 International Conference) reports its research funding reached $691 million in fiscal year 2024. This funding achievement marks the fifth consecutive year the university has secured funding levels exceeding $600 million. Read more.

Purdue University Engineers Testing Wireless Vehicle Charging While Driving

Purdue University engineers and the Indiana Department of Transportation are working to make it possible for electric vehicles (ranging from tractor-trailers to passenger cars) to wirelessly charge while driving on highways. NC State's Keisha Demps named Director of Partnerships  

AURP Board member, Keisha Demps, who joined NC State’s Office of Partnerships in 2014, has been promoted to Director of Partnerships. In this expanded position, Keisha will assist in leading the team’s work to build strategic collaborations between NC State and industry and government partners. Read more.

The University of Pittsburgh has been designated once again an Innovation and Economic Prosperity University by APLU. Pitt first received the designation in 2014 from the APLU, which acts as a trusted voice for public research and land-grant universities across North America. Read more.

Purdue Receives EDA Funding to Catalyze Indiana’s Biotechnology Innovation and Manufacturing Efforts

Purdue University will share $51 million in U.S. EDA funding to bolster workforce development and business startup efforts in Indiana's growing biotechnology ecosystem. Penn State's University Park Hosts a New Center to Study How Complex Biological Processes Arise 

A $20 million grant from the NSF is supporting the establishment and operation of the National Synthesis Center for Emergence in the Molecular and Cellular Sciences at Penn State's University Park.
